Three Growth Tips 🌱

1. How to Audit your Feed

Twitter is an awesome place to be if you can suppress the noise.

Therefore, auditing your Twitter Feed is one of the best decisions you can make.

How?

a. Mute Words

You can click here to go to “Muted Words settings”

You’ll find four options.

If you absolutely despise someone’s tweets but you don’t want to unfollow them, you can simply mute them.

But, if you don't want some words on your feed, you can “Mute Words”

b. Defeat the algorithm

See that little icon that looks like sparkles in the upper right corner of Twitter?

Click that and select “latest tweets” to look at tweets in the order they appear and not the way the algorithm wants to show you.

c. Hot tip

If you don't want to see Suggested Tweets or "x and y liked this" tweets

You can add the following two words in the (muted words) list:

suggest_activity_tweet

suggestrecycledtweet_inline

A more comprehensive list of words to mute is -

  • ActivityTweet
  • generic_activity_highlights
  • generic_activity_momentsbreaking
  • RankedOrganicTweet
  • suggest_activity
  • suggest_activity_feed
  • suggest_activity_highlights
  • suggest_activity_tweet
  • suggest_grouped_tweet_hashtag
  • suggest_pyle_tweet
  • suggest_ranked_organic_tweet
  • suggest_ranked_timeline_tweet
  • suggest_recap
  • suggest_recycled_tweet
  • suggest_recycled_tweet_inline
  • suggest_sc_tweet
  • suggest_timeline_tweet
  • suggest_who_to_follow
  • suggestactivitytweet
  • suggestpyletweet
  • suggestrecycledtweet_inline

2. “Provide Value” in Comments

Before adding value in comments, you must understand what value means.

Rewriting the same tweet will not get you anywhere.

So, let’s define a framework to identify what comment is valuable:

Value can be:

  • Adding a framework or actionable advice to the tweet

  • Adding an experience to the tweet

  • Explaining it in a different way

  • Entertain

3. Overdeliver

This is probably the easiest hack to apply.

Whatever it is you’re aiming to deliver, make sure to over-deliver on it.

A study in the Journal of Applied Psychology found that waiters who went back to their tables with the second round of mints increased their tips by 23%.

Now, how would you feel if you increase your followers by 23%? :P

How can you overdeliver on Twitter?

  1. Message every new follower with a thank you and asking what they’d like to hear from you. Don’t use the word follower in the DM, please.
  2. Engage with replies. Be supportive.
  3. Give shoutouts and appreciation to your friends.
  4. Help people.
  5. Don’t end up in quarrel or fights. Ignore trash.

Two Tweet Writing Tips ✍️

1. Write while you read

"Raise the difficulty of saving ideas and the productivity of reading by writing a short note about everything you highlight. "

~David Perell

This will help you to remember why you highlighted something in the first place.

You wrote a personalized note about your highlights, you’re more likely to remember them.

When you’re more likely to remember something, applying it becomes a cakewalk.

You can now use these mental notes to write articles, or tweets or blogs.

2. Use Languaging

Languaging is the strategic use of language to change thinking.

It’s not Sports. It’s Outdoor Sports.

It’s not Writing. It’s Persuasive Writing or Creative Writing.

The word you pick to improve another word changes how people see it.

Bonus Writing Tip:

💡 “Writing well is 5% ideas, 5% grammar, and 90% not being distracted by the Internet.” ~David Perell
